Three Weeks Left!

Election Day 2018 is just three weeks away! If you haven't registered to vote yet, you can do so online (if you have an ID issued by the DMV), mail in a voter registration form to your town hall (must be postmarked by October 30) or register in person at your town hall on Election Day (although preferred that you register before the October 30 deadline). You can also check to see if you're registered HERE. The Secretary of State's office also offers a wealth of voter information, including information for first-time voters.

Request for Proposals for 2019 Childhood Conversations/Together We Will Conference

The annual Childhood Conversations/Together We Will Conference is slated for March 29 and 30, 2019 and the committee is seeking Request for Proposals for workshops for the 2019 conference. The 2019 focus is: "Together We Will...Learn to Support and Develop Children's Social Emotional Skills and Reduce Challenging Behaviors, Strengthen Families and Communities." Deadline to submit RFPs is November 2.

Make CT Next: Paid Family and Medical Leave Forums Planned

Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New York...what do these states all have in common besides bordering Connecticut? They all have Paid Family and Medical Leave legislation in place. That just leaves Connecticut. Over the next week, CT Working Families Organization will be hosting a series of forums held around the state to make Connecticut next for paid leave. The first forum will be in Norwalk on Thursday, October 18, 7-8 p.m., at Norwalk Community Health Center, 120 Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk. To RSVP for the Norwalk event, click HERE. If you're looking for a forum closer to where you live or work, there will be forums held in Danbury (Danbury Public Library, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.) on October 23 and Torrington (Torrington Public Library, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) on October 24. Registration Open for CT-AIMH Conference

CT Association for Infant Mental Health (CT-AIMH) has opened registration for the 2018 CT-AIMH Conference. The conference is Thursday, November 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Woodwinds in Branford. Breakfast and lunch is included. The keynote speaker is Eva Marie Shivers, J.D., Ph.D., the Executive Director and Founder of Indigo Cultural Center, a non-profit action research firm located in Phoenix, AZ. 
Topic: Promoting Racial Equity and Disrupting Bias: What Does Infant Mental Health Have To Do With It?
Description: What role do infant mental health professionals have in closing racial disparities and reducing bias? 
Using Infant Mental Health frameworks and the Diversity-Informed Tenets for infants, children and families as an anchor, we will practice using 3 multiple lenses of personal, interpersonal and systemic approaches.

CT Early Childhood Cabinet Meeting October 18

The CT Early Childhood Cabinet will meet Thursday, October 18, from 2 to 4 pm. The meeting will be held at the Legislative Office Building, Room 1C.
